A mechanic’s cap made of the same material as the farmer’s trousers and chore jacket. Adopted in 1942, the AAF Mechanic’s Cap, Type A-3, was the first work cap of the U.S. Army, and its baseball-cap shape became the prototype for subsequent U.S military field/work caps. This tough and ‘Yankee’-like A-3 cap was not only used and loved by mechanics, but also by air pilots and their crews.
