"City Workshop Men's Supply Company was conceived when my wife and I decided we wanted to bring a men's shop to our town and connect with our neighbors. We didn't realize we were creating a men's casual lifestyle shop, we just set out to make a cool place where men could feel comfortable purchasing the highest quality products, but uncommon in availability.
Using a holistic approach, we started with denim which has been an American staple for over 100 years. We began to source brands whose collective stories resonated with us on many levels such as quality, detail, craftsmanship, giving back, civic duty and environmental consciousness. We started with American made products and then looked globally.
Since this was initially for our community we wanted the theme of our shop to relate to one of the most prominent figures in our town of West Orange, NJ, Thomas A. Edison. When Edison left Menlo Park, NJ he moved to West Orange, NJ where he built a larger lab which is 2 blocks away from our shop (it is open to visitors). So, in homage, our brick and mortar has an industrial workshop feel and our logo includes the Edison filament bulb, synonymous with ideas. And our core products reflect that classic American work wear aesthetic. This place is for our (world) community like our City Hall, our City Park, our City Transit..."
